Early Results of Modelling Subsurface Study in Lake Toba, North Sumatra Using Receiver Function

Abstract The island of Sumatra was dominated by tectonic interaction between the Indo-Australian plate subducting beneath Eurasian plate. Lake Toba is one results collision and had a large eruption several tens thousands years ago. goal this study to use receiver function approach calculate depth variation Moho layer identify presence low-velocity zone (LVZ) under Toba, then compare deconvolution method. To process data on functions around 31 stations from (LT) project have been chosen, with sources coming Geofon (Germany). Water level (frequency domain deconvolution) iterative time-domain are methods employed. According findings, varies 27.5 36.95 kilometres, it thickens northeast Toba. average roughly 31.05 km, Vp/Vs ratio obtained 1.86 average. detected at 15 km 25 in A-A′ section leading northwest southeast east side 8 22 B-B′ southwest across as indicated low amplitude. Investigator Fracture Zone (IFZ) identified magma reservoir source volcanic activity. used illustrate result best investigation, which revealed that arrival time Ps wave more spiky than water level.
